SUPERINTENDENTS AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE
What are the Awards of Excellence?
The Superintendent's Award of Excellence recognizes the outstanding
achievements of Allentown School District students and employees. The
nomination process provides a systematic method for identifying individuals and
ensuring they receive recognition for their efforts on behalf of the Allentown
School District community.
Who can be nominated?
One student per grade level and one teacher will be nominated and selected by
each school. If you would like to nominate a student or teacher, please contact
your building principal directly.
Any full-time or part-time
employee who has been employed by the Allentown School District since January
2019 is eligible for nomination.

Allentown School District employees can nominate another individual.
How does one nominate?
Complete and submit the applicable Award of Excellence category nomination form
available on the ASD website. Links to
the forms are also included in an email distributed to all ASD staff.

The Empowerment Award recognizes an Allentown School District student and/or staff member who demonstrates the greatest commitment to becoming stronger and more confident and fosters that commitment in their own lives, or in the lives of others in their classroom, their school and/or in their communities. Awards
The
Award of Excellence is designed to recognize outstanding achievements of ASD
employees. The information provided in the nomination form should clearly
describe, explain and/or provide supporting documentation and information to
demonstrate that the employee has set an example of excellence in his/her
performance, achievements and contributions impacting others. There are many
employees who work very hard every day and routinely meet or exceed
expectations. This award is designed to recognize those employees who truly
stand out among their peers/within the District. Criteria include: Demonstrated
Willingness to Go “Above and Beyond”; Personal Impact on Immediate Job
Surroundings; Personal Impact Outside of Immediate Job Surroundings (District
and/or Community); Activities or Accomplishments that Brought Distinction to
the Employee and/or District; Role Model of Excellence (relationships,
accomplishments, self-improvement, above/beyond, unique
qualities/contributions)
How are the winners selected?
Students, teachers and parents are nominated and selected by each school.
A committee with representation from throughout the District will review the
nominations and use a scoring rubric to select awardees. One awardee will be
selected for each category with the exception of the Principal Award and
Administrator Awards which will select one Elementary awardee and one Secondary
awardee.
How are the winners recognized?
Award recipients will be recognized at the 2019 Superintendent’s Awards of
Excellence Ceremony held on May 29 @ 6 PM at the PPL Center. All awardees will receive a certificate of
appreciation.
