September 15, 2022

Greetings ASD Community,
As we celebrate our return and the start of the 2022-23 school year, we want to take a moment to recognize Hispanic Heritage Month.
In the Allentown School District, we are proud of the incredible diversity of our entire ASD community. From September 15 to October 15, we are honored to join our community and our nation in celebrating our staff and students of Hispanic descent. I firmly believe that respecting and celebrating different cultures is the foundation of building strong relationships in our community!
We know how important it is to celebrate the rich diversity of the people who call ASD home. We also know how important it is for our students to see positive role models and historical figures that look like them. In order to improve our culture, climate, and equity district-wide, we are striving to provide relevant and historical opportunities to increase cultural awareness and celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion for all our students and team members. It is through our collective knowledge and celebration of all cultures that we gain wisdom and respect for each other.
To that end, our schools and individual classroom teachers may have special activities planned over the next month. I encourage all our students and families to get involved and participate in these celebrations. It is another opportunity to reflect on and recognize what makes ASD such a special place to live, learn, and work.

Sincerely,

Dr. John D. Stanford

Sinceramente,

Dr. John Stanford
