Purpose

Allentown School District’s pregnant and parenting students are eligible for a continuum of services designed to promote school success and lead to high school graduation. Students develop skills to become self-sufficient adults, capable parents and contributing members of the community.

Description of Services

The following core services are available to all pregnant and/or parenting students in the district:

  • Case management
  • Individual and group support service
  • Health care and nutrition education
  • Home visits
  • Parenting and child development education
  • Childcare on-site
  • Tutoring/Mentoring
  • Referral services

Intensive case management encourages consistent attendance and uninterrupted learning and promotes wellness for both mother-to-be and child. The Fatherhood Initiative provides the core services to young fathers and fathers-to-be through Communities in Schools of the Lehigh Valley, Inc.
