Transition Planning

What to know about Transition in ASD

Transition Definition:
For a student with an IEP, transition is defined as the shift for the student from school-based to post-school life.

Post-secondary Education and Training:  In this section of the IEP, information is placed that outlines a student’s interest in college, vocational training, the military, law enforcement, or a licensing program.

Employment: In this section of the IEP, information is placed that outlines a student’s interest in obtaining competitive employment either right after high school or after completion of post-secondary education.

Independent Living:  In this section of the IEP, information is placed about where the student will live and how the student will access the community.
