Allentown, PA (January 6, 2021)  At a Special Board Meeting on Thursday, January 6, the Allentown School Board of Directors named  Patrick Palmer to fill the vacancy left by Linda Vega-Sirop at the end of last year. Ms. Vega was elected to serve as a Magistrate District Judge. Mr. Palmer will be sworn in during a special meeting on January 13 prior to the committee of the whole meeting and in this position until the December 2023 reorganization meeting.

Palmer is a graduate of William Allen HS and lifelong resident of Allentown. He is very active in the community and has worked with our schools, the City of Allentown and various non profit organizations to create programs that mentor ASD students. Mr. Palmer's goal is to foster a relationship between the School City and Community to better the future of our youth.

The board reviewed a number of applications and in total four candidates met all of the requirements to fill the seat. The four candidates who took part in public interviews held at the administration center this evening were Judy Collins, Patrick Palmer, Robert E Smith Jr and Mark Stein, Ph.D.

Each candidate was interviewed for approximately 30 minutes and were asked the same slate of questions. As per Pennsylvania School Code, the interviews were conducted publicly, and also live streamed on the district’s YouTube channel.
