Guest Teacher Program

The Guest Teacher Program is a service the CLIU offers to the community and our local school districts. Individuals who have obtained a bachelor's degree from an accredited college may apply to participate in the program. The program's purpose is to provide quality substitute training to individuals with limited or no teaching experience.

The program is conducted in order to provide participating Districts and Career and Technical Institutes with trained substitute teachers. 

Each Guest Teacher exits the program with the basic understanding to be a substitute teacher on a day-to-day basis and an emergency permit issued by the PA Department of Education (PDE) which makes the Guest Teacher eligible to substitute teach in any participating District and Career and Technical Institutes. The opportunities are rewarding and gratifying.

March 3, 2023 - Application live on Frontline.

April 24, 2023 – Application deadline.

April 28, 2023 – Clearances are due.

May 10, 2023, and May 11, 2023 - Interviews will be held in person at the CLIU Main Office.

June 7, 2023, and June 8, 2023 – Mandatory Training.

July 26, 2023 – Meet and Greet concludes the program and will be held at the CLIU Main Office. The Meet and Greet is a job fair for the Guest Teachers who have successfully completed the program. On this day the Guest Teachers will have an opportunity to meet district representative(s). 

If the Guest Teacher wishes to be considered for hire by the district the district only needs to provide hiring information to the candidate. Prior to the Meet and Greet the Guest Teachers will receive the following packet which include copies of the employment application, resume, reference letters, transcripts, clearances, PA school health form, employment verification, and immigration form (I-9).

Cost/Billing - To participate in the program the billing is structured based on the number of districts participating in the 2023 Summer Guest Teacher Program. There is a $30 fee charged to the Guest Teacher which will be used to offset the district fee.
